Electronics Hardware Engineer (f/m/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · GEMESYS HQ

The opportunity
As an Electronics Hardware Engineer at GEMESYS, you have the unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology projects, shaping the future of AI hardware development in a collaborative and innovative environment. If you are passionate about hardware engineering and eager to make an impact by collaborating with excellent specialists, developing the foundational technology for new AI hardware solutions in various industries such as healthcare, space, energy, and robotics, we encourage you to apply!
Your role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electronic hardware systems around our novel analog AI chip. This role requires excellent technical expertise in PCB and IC design, FPGA software coding, system assembly and electrical measurements. Since all hardware is built around our own integrated circuits, familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso is key. Attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are self-evident. To round up the full-stack system integration, experience in 3D CAD design is a plus.

  • Define, design, simulate, layoutoptimize (and populate) PCB assemblies centered around our analog AI chip.
  • Select and source components for hardware development.
  • Developimplementtest and validate FPGA software (Xilinx).
  • Conduct electrical measurements, troubleshooting and system-level tests.
  • Debug silicon prototypes in the lab (use Cadence and Altium design environments, run necessary simulations), working on performance optimization and issue resolution.
  • Analyze test data and work closely with other teams to ensure that designs meet the system-level requirements.
  • Support the preparation of detailed technical documentation for design, testing, and verification processes.
  • Develop 3D CAD models for enclosures or other hardware-related components.
What you bring
You are a proactive Electronics Hardware Engineer with expertise in PCB and IC design, FPGA software development, and electrical testing, dedicated to delivering reliable and efficient hardware solutions through collaborative teamwork and detailed documentation.

Essential:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field with experience in electrical hardware development
  • Proficiency in PCB design tools (Altium Designer).
  • Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso.
  • Experience with FPGA programming (Xilinx).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical testing equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).
  • Experience with analyzing and debugging PCB assemblies on the bench. Soldering skills are a must.
  • Experience with running and maintaining an Electrical Test Laboratory.
  • Ability to document processes and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems and contribute to innovative solutions.
Preferred:
  • Experience with EMI/EMC/low noise considerations in PCB design.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity and power distribution network (PDN) analysis.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
  • Experience in AI research and development.

Our offer
  • A dynamic team with a shared mission, where everyone sticks together and is treated equally.
  • A company where everyone is working together closely with honest communication and flat hierarchies.
  • We offer challenges every day and organic growth opportunities as the company scales.
  • 30 vacation days, flexible hours, corporate benefits, team events and hybrid solutions are a given. Healthy snacks and free drinks are part of the perks in our creative, modern and central HQ.
