Senior Simulation Engineer (f/m/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · GEMESYS HQ

The opportunity
As a Senior Simulation Engineer at GEMESYS, you will be working as a part of the Concept & Research team responsible for developing a digital twin of our analog AI technology. You will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, collaborating with excellent specialists to establish the foundation for new AI solutions in various industries such as healthcare, space, energy, and robotics.
Your role
As a Senior Simulation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in continuously developing our digital twin of the analog AI chip architecture based on different simulation models and testing it on our in-house AI models using various programming tools and rapid prototyping frameworks.
  • Develop and refine digital twin models of dynamic physical systems (electrical circuits) using methods of numerical mathematics.
  • Troubleshoot and debug MATLAB/Python/C++ source codes.
  • Optimize discrete models of dynamical systems (electrical circuits) to enhance performance, stability, robustness, and convergence across diverse AI applications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to adapt models for integration into AI and ML workflows.
  • Apply methods from nonlinear stability theory to investigate the stability properties of the underlying discrete model describing a digital twin of the dynamical physical system (electrical circuit).
  • Aid our project teams in defining goals, milestones, and work packages.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute insights to enhance project outcomes.
What you bring
Essentials:
  • Advanced degree (master’s or Ph.D.) in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of industry experience in numerical modeling, dynamical system simulation, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of numerical mathematics for accurate, performance-optimized simulations (especially in numerical integration methods for solving ODEs).
  • Proven experience in developing digital twin models or simulations of dynamical systems.
  • Proficiency in C++ or Python for modeling and simulation purposes.
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing performance for computational models (e.g., runtime, stability, robustness).
  • Experience in program scripting in MATLAB.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, effective communication and a team player.
  • Ability to report and present in English.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in an agile deep-tech start-up.
Preferred:
  • Background in electrical engineering with a focus on circuit simulation.
  • Experience with digital signal processing.
  • Familiarity with AI and ML applications, particularly in edge computing environments.

About us

About GEMESYS

We are a deep-tech startup that is set up to build a legacy. Our mission is to design a chip that works like the human brain to overcome computing bottlenecks and provide AI with the hardware to fulfill its destiny: Shaping a better future for everyone.

Based out of Bochum, Germany, we are setting out to challenge the status quo. We have received €8.6M+ in funding and are fully backed by a strong team of investors and the German government.

We are a group of pioneering minds who love blank canvases. We work within an agile startup environment where you can be hands-on and contribute to the success of next-generation AI hardware.

We execute and work at a high pace. We fail fast and learn faster. Sounds like you? Come join us.
